Vintage Schwinn Suburban 3-Speed 21" Cruiser Bicycle Nonprofit

This 1970 Schwinn Suburban was originally sold by Winkleman's Bike Shop in Arlington Heights, IL.  Its journey from there to here (Princeton, Illinois) is a mystery.  The coincidence is that my eighth grade graduation present, a red Schwinn Sprint, was purchased from Wink's.  I mean what are the odds?  Seeing the Wink's sticker gave me an afternoon of pleasant reminiscence.  I want to pass this bike on to someone who appreciates it as much as me.  Think about making an offer on this Suburban. Shipping an old bike involves a lot of disassembly.  This may include but is not limited to: pedals removed, front wheel removed, saddle removed from seatpost, seatpost removed, brake cables unhooked from brakes, brakes removed, handlebar removed, stem loosened on handlebar, rear derailleur unhooked from chain and unscrewed from frame, brake lever extensions removed, fork removed. Any part removed is wrapped in foam.  Frame tubes are typically protected with foam noodles.  I put a lot of effort into prepping and packing.  This does mean that the buyer will have a lot of reassembly to do.  If you're handy with bikes, great, you'll have a fun job ahead of you.  But if not, you'll have to get someone or pay someone to put everything back together.  Just so you know, unhooked cables are sometimes difficult or impossible to rehook.  So, for every cable I unhook, I include a brand new cable just in case. We are a non-profit bike shop in Princeton, IL, USA.  Our goals start with providing the town of Princeton a local resource for inexpensive bicycle rescuing, repairing, recycling, and distribution.  We have the resources to refurbish and repair bikes to keep them on the road and recycle the materials in bikes that are no longer road worthy. The purchase of this bike and others like it fund our Pedal-it-Forward charitable program that gives bikes to those who need them.
