RARE 1977 Torker MX "Big Bike" BMX Frame 1st Gen with Forward Facing Dropouts - NR-MT _________________________________________________________________ Brief History: First Generation Torker frames were produced from 1976-79. We have never seen anything earlier than a 77 dated frame; but there must be a '76 out there somewhere. This frame has Serial Number T877189 stamped on the underside of the BB. The "T" stands for Torker; the "8" stands for August; the "77" stands for the year it was made 1977; and the 189 stands for 189th frame made during 1977. Since this model was called the "Big Bike" it has a very long 20 inch top tube. Torker used forward facing dropouts until May of 1978. This is only the 3rd Torker with these early style dropouts that we have had in almost 30 years. These are Rare! __________________________________________________________________ These early 1977-78 Torkers were nickel plated and then painted over with Candy paint directly over the nickel. Subsequently the paint just flaked right off; and most of these frames were left with no original paint after 45+ years. __________________________________________________________________ Details: This Beauty had no original left, and it was subsequently refinished in the correct Candy Blue finish by Chip at C4 Labs (years ago). Correct decals were then added, downtube decal has a bubble/crease as shown. The owner has had this frame in his collection and unbuilt for quite a few years. Because it was never built he decided to let it go. There are zero issues with the frame; no dings, dents, cracks, repairs, rewelds. It's truly a Gorgeous frame with only a couple of spots where the paint is flawed. The frame weighs 5lbs 12oz with the BB cups. These early Torkers were built almost completely with Chromoly; only the head tube and bottom brackets were mild steel.
