This Alchemy stainless steel frame is unrideable due to the failures in the top tube and the down tube. I luckily survived the last ride two weeks ago when the frame failed mid-ride. It could have been a much different story for me if the frame had failed 15 minutes earlier at a narrow portion of road with a string of logging trucks passing me. This frame can't be repaired. I went to a local bike shop that said the frame was probably heated too much during welding and I visited a local welder that said it could be the welds, but he felt that the tube selection was probably incorrect. Regardless, this frame is good for wall art, display in a bike shop, or as a classroom show-and-tell for a welding school. This would make some cool art or welding education piece! Timing disclaimer: I've put in a query with the Consumer Safety Board in case this is happening with more of these frames, so shipping will have to wait until the case is investigated. I'd also like to bring this frame to the NHMBS in Sacramento to see if either of the opinions above are correct...so shipping could be delayed to February. Frame manufactured in 2014. CONUS shipping only.
