Cinelli Tokyo 64' Commemorative Bicycle Frame There is not much about these online. There is a Cinelli only post with a rose one that Belonged to Greg Hahn, There is a timeline mention in Chuck Schmidts Cinelli Timeline and A bike forum post of someone asking if anyone ever actually saw one in which Greg Honn came on and added a few more details. Greg Was Milanosport on the East Coast and imported Masi and some other great Italian brands. Heres what I know, Less than 300 made, 85 went to the USA, nly 2 in each size. These were made in 1987 with the original lugs and named Tokyo 64 after the 1964 Japanese Olympic team Ironically enough we have #65, BB marked TK 065 Weve had it for more than a decade. Its interesting and I wish I could find more but, its told to have been a quick "sell out at the milan show before it was over sorta thing" The bike is made with the original Super Corsa lugs and the old decal style but has braze on front derailleur hanger, Brazed on Top tube cable guides, shifter bosses. Some are purported to have metal headbadges, this one does not. The paint is very interesting as its "cracked" under the clear coat, Looks like it was intentionally patina'd, Hung next to an original for years and Ive never seen anything like it. Ive never seen another aside from pics of the one Greg had so I cannot attest to this being an intentional thing but I have to assume as its consistent and under the clear coat. The one piece of "damage" is that the chrome peeled a little on the non-drive side for crown. 59cm center to center seat tube and 58cm c-c top tube 126mm rear spacing Frame is in excellent condition, aside from the chrome issue on the crown, with no dents or dings Looks like the frame went through Cyclesmithy at one time I have no idea what to price this at or if I even care to sell it. Pretty much no one has seen them, I dont do blog so you can at least see it here. Someone who likes low production and commemorative editions, perhaps someone who missed first time around can make an offer. So dont have a fit on the price Here is from Veloretros awesome Timeline "1987
Cinelli makes almost 300 commemorative frames with the
original CINELLI decals, Columbus SL tubing and original Cinelli lugs
with the three-hole cut outs (some with aluminum head badge). Antonio
Columbo names these limited edition bikes "Tokyo '64" as the Japanese
Olympic Committee had outfitted the entire Japanese track cycling team
with Cinelli Pistas and tandem Pistas for the 1964 Tokyo Summer
Olympics. The entire allotment of Tokyo '64 bikes is sold out within
days at the year end Milan trade show. Most of the frames go to Germany,
Japan, and U.S.A., and most are Cinelli Silver but a few are sprayed
Cinelli Rose"
Heres a link to the Cinelli only about the rose one, also with braze on front derailleur
http://cinellionly.blogspot.com/2014/02/cinelli-tokyo-1964-made-in-19871988.html
And here is from a bikeforums post
"These Cinellis were imported by Corso distributors in New York. they
were offered at the 1987 Milan Show and landed in 1988 and 1989. colors
were silver and rose. Some were made by Giovanni Pelizzoli and some by
Andra Pesenti. Since I sold my '64 Tokyo years ago I do not know the
story with the serial numbers, but these were the only modern Cinellis
made with the old style decals."
