'92 Trek 850 Antelope 26er MTB | 16.5” | True Temper OX Comp Steel | Sour

Here we have a 1992 Trek 850 in Sour Grape. It's a 16.5" frame, making it best for more diminutive riders of all ages and genders (probably around 5' tall or less?). It's in very nice condition overall, with the usual marks and scratches from use, a bit of rust here and there as well as tiny amount of storage damage underneath the top tube, but that's really it. The photos and videos tell the tale! The Sour Grape paint has held up pretty well over the years. It could use a polish if you're into that sort of thing, but, trust me, the bike is not going to complain about being ridden as-is. :) Decals are mostly good, with the exception being a little discoloration on the "850" from some sort of plastic clamp that was around the frame, and a little damage caused by yours truly during a bit of over-zealous attempts to remove the purple hue. :) Overall though the decals look good. The bottom bracket has been removed and the shell thoroughly cleaned. There is some minor surface rust in the BB shell and chainstay areas, again see the photos and video. I replaced the rubber grommet on the seat post clamp, those always dry out and crack. The frame takes a 26.8 mm seat post, and I may still have the one that was on the bike originally, see my other listings. 135mm rear spacing, the head tube has a 1-1/8" headset, and the t op tube is 21". Once again, this frame was made True Temper OX Comp steel. Everything is straight and solid. It's ready for you to give a little love - and build up! either. Why? Because eBay says that I no longer have any seller protections if a freight forwarder is utilized. Thanks for understanding! I take great pride in the way I pack frames for shipment. I have to use new cardboard boxes from Amazon
($8-$12 each) because my local bike shops can't always provide me with boxes in the sizes I need. Smaller frames ship with forks removed (if present), rear triangle blocked with wood, and lots, lots, LOTS of crumpled up newspaper to ensure the frame doesn't move around inside. Larger frames also ship with the rear triangle blocked with wood, and with any fork still attached. I use cardboard bracing in several key spots (front and rear brake bosses, bottom bracket, rear dropouts) along with heavy-duty zip ties to ensure the frame does not move around once the box is closed.
