At 14 mils thick, it resists punctures, tearing and abrasion, and even ultraviolet light. It can withstand a wide variety of difficult conditions, including rain and sand erosion. 3M 8671 can be applied efficiently in aircraft production and maintenance and is qualified for aerospace specifications. Applied over the leading edges of an aircraft or blades of a helicopter,  it provides an excellent barrier to erosion, abrasion and foreign object damage. 3M 8671 has both strength and body, allowing it to be easily handled without tearing. 3M 8671 provides a unique combination of high strength abrasion resistance and conformability necessary to perform in many environments.
