AUGUST 2023 update: I’ve added the original decal and pads. Second half of pics of the bike in the attic tell that story pretty clearly. Both sets of pads are included. VINTAGE BMX RACING BIKE featured trophy winning ABA vintage bmx Powerlight Super bike for sale - Tons Of Top Tier Racing Parts such as Elf, Redline and Crupi. Built around 1994-97 (many parts are 30 years old now) this bike was raced weekly on the professional ABA circuit across the Midwest and east coast and then garage kept ever since. Incredible shape for its age (and use) and fully restored Jan 1st 2023. First, the rant: Some wanna-be, never raced on a track in his life momo, just sardonically messaged me that there’s a group of internet trolls somewhere on a bmx forum (who collect sad shiny unridden bikes and berate ex-pros for selling “unclean completes”) that take concern that 1.) this isn’t an Elf like the title says … uhhh who said it’s an Elf frame?? Not me. 2.) these parts are readily available…. Which doesn’t even make sense. Obviously you can’t get these parts anymore since they stopped making them 30 years ago (except seat and cranks, which I pointed out). To this isolated group of sad unridden bike collectors, I say this: I feel bad for you. You’ll never know the feeling of winning a race with an ABA team in front of thousands of people on a machine that was meant to go fast and get dirty. You have bikes with ugly white tires and blank number plates because you never had a number… but you have no problem attacking those that did and do. You have no concept of what BMX is actually about because we defined it and you collect OUR history. So my advice to you is this: watch Ferris Bueler’s day off. You reeeeally need to remember the point of that cloth diaper wiped Ferrari’s role in that film. I’m not selling a pristine bike, obviously. I’m selling a piece of bygone history in time capsule form that is STILL meant to be ridden and enjoyed. A bike that raced and won with some of the biggest ABA teams of the 90’s and was seen more than once in BMX PLUS /ACTION magazine while you were to chicken to suit up and compete. It may not be worth 4k or be mint but to me and millions of other actual racing enthusiasts, a 90’s raced ABA team bike is still pretty damn cool. Anyway, back to the listing: This bike has a lot of history and inherent, intrinsic value. I won a few dozen trophies racing on a top tier team with the ABA during the 90’s with this incredibly special BMX racing bike and held onto it for nearly 30 years… until now. I started the build in 1994 with a pair of holy grail Araya RB-17’s (which are in excellent cond) and built the bike up around them using only the best parts money could buy. It could stand for a good cleaning but under the dust it’s actually in incredible shape. I’m still riding and racing at 42 so no, it’s not pristine but it is special and holds a high value, both sentimental, functional, monetary, social, and intrinsic. If 1200 seems high to you, move along. I’m in no rush to sell. These are selling for 2-4k when clean so 1200 is not that crazy imo. Money was no object when I was racing professionally and this bike was the picancle of “best of the best” parts you could buy down to the matching blue aluminum VG drop out savers on the rear axle. Original Vintage 90’s parts (NOT readily available): - Vintage Powerlight “P” frame (serial # 08922983) - Vintage “Elf Blast Bar”handle bars - Vintage Araya RB-17’s rims (with original 90’s Dans Comp Sticker!) - Vintage Redline 42T front sprocket for downhill racing - Vintage VG headset lock - Vintage UNI seatpost - Vintage Boss seatpost clamp - Vintage DK headset with DK cover - Vintage Crupi hubs - aluminum Odessy Pedals - Vintage VG Dropput savers - Vintage Suncoast rear sprocket - Mongoose 3-piece cranks - Vintage Pitbull center pull rear cantilever brakes - Vintage Pitbull front right lever - Modern ODI grips - 2023 new tubes and tires. Tires are “vintage” GT Megabyte style. - seat was a tiny plastic UNI racing seat you couldn’t even sit on (used only to pass track requirements) so I’ve added a comfortable modern seat for everyday riding. LOCAL NYC pickup available. SHIPPING DETAILS: Must have basic knowledge of BMX bike assembly as I plan on taking the wheels and handlebars off the frame for shipping. Or you can come pick it up on the east coast in perfect riding condition. It is currently ridden every single day. Because that’s what BMXers do, they ride these bikes… unlike angry, reddit trolls who collect shiny chromoly bikes with white tires and blank number plates and pester me for posting this listing. If you’re looking for a 90’s bike that rides great, you found it. Thanks for looking! GET OUT THERE AND RIDE YOUR BIKE. Better yet, buy this one and ride & enjoy it!
