1988 Grisley Glacier vintage mountain bike frame size 17, with Ritchey fork. I recently purchased this bike frame from a collector in the UK but due to two new projects, I need some funding/space and this has to go. Buy it Now price is less that I have in it. So score a vintage bargain.
I've always been a Jeff Lyndsey fan and own multiple Mountain Goats from this era. The story goes Peter Grisley partnered with Jeff to make this bike. I see the similarities with the whiskey town racer when I look at the rear triangle, the way the chain stays mount to the dropouts and the head badge too. Mr Grisley made the lugs out of casts and supposedly (I spoke to Peter's brother by chance) used adhesive from the Space Shuttle program to glue the aluminum tubes in. I love the way this bike looked and the made in the USA history it has. I'd never seen one before.
Since purchasing the frame I've installed a new NOS Headset, NOS 3T stem, used Titec titanium bars, used seat post, then removed, cleaned the bottom bracket (not sure of the spindle length, but it was too short for a Shimano M730 crankset). I also removed the old Ritchey fork decals and replaced with new. I also touched up some of the black paint as well as the yellow old school painted on Grisley & Glacier logos. Also included in the sale are the sea t post clamp, two new cages, used Shimano DX front derailleur and ODI Ruffian grips. Stunning anodized Easton E9 tubing and cast lugs really make this stand out. 16.5" frame center of bb to top of seat tube.
Pre 1990 original bikes of this era are getting harder to find. Build this one up the way you like. Will only appreciate in value. Add a high end, rare, pre- 90's, made in the USA vintage MTB to your collection for a budget price. Pictures tell the story. Ask questions if you have them. See my feedback and bid with confidence.
