Here is an unusual and HARD TO FIND 1971 Schwinn Stingray "ORANGE KRATE" 20" banana seat MUSCLE BIKE! (KH Serial Number) Affectionately known as the Halloween Bike being ORANGE and made in October 1971! This bike is from the era when most everything was cool! (the HEMICUDA, Mach 1 Mustang, and Camaro Z-28 come to mind!)
*This is agruably one of the very COOLEST Schwinn bikes of all time! EVERY kid wanted one back in the day... few were lucky enough to own one. You did not see them often back in the day, and almost NEVER see them in any condition these days! They were designed after the drag racing muscle cars of the time! They hit the nail on the head with this one! They are SO cool!
*The bike is LOADED with cool options only found on the top of the line "Krate" series at the time. The bike has the cool correct original paint "cantalever" Schwinn frame, cool wide apehanger handlebars, matching Schwinn orange hand grips, (1 split) chrome Schwinn SPRINGER front forks with S bolts, Schwinn pedals, front and rear fenders, 1-speed "Mag" sprocket, cool rear SHOCKS sissy bar and so much more! It has the cool Schwinn S7 16" front rim. The rear wheel is a single speed double knurled S-2 Schwinn rear wheel with a Bendix rear hub. Both front and rear tires hold air. The front tire is a Schwinn. The rear is a Schwinn Stingray Orange line SLIK 20x2.125" tire. (looks newer) I dont know where you would find another like it! It is awesome! The paint looks original but has age patina, etc. The chainguard has its original screen but looks like one from the 1990s. Seat has the Stingray tag and looks newer as well.
*I find this cool as you see 5-speed KRATE bikes sometimes but almost NEVER see the single speed bikes! Something cool, unique, and different! Great for a rider, display, restore, or add to your Stik Shifter muscle bike colleciton.
*The Krate series of bikes is awesome! (they made the Orange Krate, Apple Krate, Pea Picker, Cotton Picker, and Grey Ghost) These are awesome bikes and better than money in the bank! These bikes continually go UP in value and will make for a great investment! Even if you dont restore it, hang it on the wall or put it in your bike collection for an awesome conversation piece!
