Hello everyone. I just need to let you know that Spring time is now upon us, folks. The days are starting to get longer and the temperatures are starting to get back into the 60s, 70s, and the 80s. Spring time is the perfect time to get oneself back into shape again. And what better way of getting back in to shape then to ride on a classic Schwinn bicycle.
I have for sale a nice looking and mostly original Kool Yellow 1972 Schwinn Manta Ray 5-Speed Stingray Bicycle with a nice disc brake. As you can see in the pictures this bicycle is in good shape, considering it is now 50 years old.
This is not your regular namby-pamby reproduction bicycle I have here, folks. No siree Bob. A reproduction bicycle is made up with lots and lots of cheap and mediocre parts of which most of these parts are manufactured from China. This bicycle is an original 1972 Schwinn Manta Ray 5-speed bicycle and it was made in the good ol’ US of A at the now defunct Schwinn Bicycle Company in Chicago, Illinois.
The Kool Yellow paint look good on it, but it did require some touch up paint done to it at various locations on the frame. The 5-speed shifter works just fine and dandy and this bicycle is very fast on the road due to its larger wheels and tires. And yes, young boys and young girls of all ages and even full fledged adult men and women can ride this bicycle with no problem at all. As the pictures show, this mostly original Schwinn Manta Ray 5-speed bicycle really is in awesome shape.
The front wheel is the original 24” wheel and it is in good condition. The rim has its customary knurl around it and it is stamped Schwinn Tubular S-5. It turns straight and true like it should. There is minimal amount of rust this wheel.
The front tire is the original 72 dated 24x1 3/8 Schwinn Straight Side Sports Touring tire and it was made in the good ol’ US of A. It is in good condition, but it does show cracking at various locations around it. Remember, this tire is now 50 years old and it is extremely hard to find a bicycle tire that is 50 years old without any blemishes on it.
The rear wheel is a nice disc brake wheel and it is in good condition. The rim has its customary knurl around it and it is stamped Schwinn Tubular S-5. It turns straight and true like it should. The disc brake hub is stamped 71 as is the disc brake caliper (see pics). This disc brake works just as good as it did when it was brand new. There is minimal amount of rust on this wheel.
The rear tire is the original 71 dated 24x1 3/8 Schwinn Fastback Slik tire and it was made in the good ol’ US of A. It is in good condition, but it does show cracking at various locations around it. Remember, this tire is now 51 years old and it is extremely hard to find a bicycle tire that is 51 years old without any blemishes on it.
The sparkly yellow banana seat on this bicycle is the original Schwinn banana seat. It is in terrific shape considering its age. I do not see any cracking or splitting going on on it. The only issue I see on it is the black stripes and circled S are fading a little bit due to its previous use and age. Whoop-ti-do. I’ve seen these types of Schwinn banana seats sell as much as $400 or more on Pricetronic. Even some of the crappy ones sell for hundreds of dollars on Pricetronic.
I also made sure this timeless classic bicycle had all the missing bell and whistle accessories added to it that most classic bicycle owners love to have on their cherished bicycles. Not only do they add pizzaz and style to it, but they literally add even more value to this bicycle.
These so called “bells and whistles” I have added to this bicycle are now listed here: The new chrome headlight, the kool yellow brake lever covers, the black and white checkerboard mirror, the new chrome bugle horn, the kool yellow brake cables and derailleur cable, an authentic Raccoon tail attached to the rear sissy bar, the black leather utility tool bag, the two blinking taillights, the yellow plastic water bottle with a matching yellow water bottle holder, and finally the 2 yellow checker flag valve stem caps on the 2 wheels. Try finding these extra accessories I have here on any other Schwinn Manta Ray that is up for sale on Pricetronic. You will not find them on any other one unless the Manta Ray is being sold by me.
My asking price for this bodacious and awesome bicycle is $2995 obo. Sale is considered final and there will be no returns or refunds allowed. What you see in the pictures is what you get.
Shipping will be $200 which will also include insurance. I will only ship this bicycle to the lower 48 states in the Continental United States. There will be no international shipping!
Thanks for looking at my incredibly rad 1972 Schwinn Manta Ray 5-speed Stingray bicycle and God bless America.
