1963½ SCHWINN STING-RAY REFLECTOR STIMSONITE 10 RED 2-Pie 1¾"

This is a clean used example of a 2-pie Stimsonite 10 1¾" rear reflector with original seat hanger bracket, made by Gulco through the mid to late 1960s and up to around 1970, for rear strut mountings on standard Sting-Ray models in the 1963½ and 1964 model years, as well as other models. This 1¾" reflector was specific to the first standard Sting-Rays, and only in the 1963½ and 1964 model years. Deluxe Sting-Rays used the 3¼" Stimsonite 12A from the beginning, and standard Sting-Rays also received it beginning in 1965. This is the earlier 2-pie lens design used in the 1960s; later bikes into the 1970s used a 6-pie Stratolite lens. This was made by the Gulotta Division (later Gulco) of Bright Star Industries. Reflector area is 1¾" in diameter on a Bright Star No. 375 aluminum backing plate. The lens shows "STIMSONITE 10" around one edge, and "SAE - B - 62" around the opposite edge. Reflector lens condition is good, with faint scratches visible up close. There is minor denting to the aluminum backing plate (see Photos 3 & 4) , and the mounting stud is loose when the reflector is not installed, but when attached to its mounting it will tighten up properly. The reflector and backing have both been polished and waxed for a good clean finish.
